‘MI CRISTO 2008’ - Report

Bessie Raju, ICPF Manipal Chapter

Impossible is a word Christians should not get used to at all. In fact it should be soon be wiped out from all our conversations. This word is a charade, a farce really! With a grin, we as members of ICPF can declare that NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE where JESUS IS CONCERNED. Care to know why?

One of the many provisions from the Lord was the Chaitya Hall, Valley View International. This definitely was impossible from a non Christian point of view, but it was made possible. Pre decorated with curtains of different colors, the ceiling looked magnificent! The show started with a word of prayer, the reins were then handed over to the MC who kept the crowd alive and cheering throughout by organizing many innovative competitions. As the church choir welcomed the increasing audience, next to follow was a brief and riveting illustration of Jesus. The Shadow Play was one of our new programs this year, depicting the birth and life of Jesus. A group song by our sisters was next, where we made it clear that our God is never going to change and that He was going to remain as our Protector, Friend, Guide and Lifelong Companion with the song, “My God”.

Our graceful sisters lit the fires in the hearts of the audience with their elegant movements, poise and charming smiles. With the help of lit candles and the grace from God, they danced to the song “Light the Fire.”

The word of God was given by Dr. Edrich Fernandes in a powerful presentation titled Greatness Redefined. By starting off with his life’s testimony, he brought various topics to light using John the Baptist as an example, emphasizing the real meaning of greatness.

A highlight of the evening was the Musical Skit. It was a heart rending, dramatic and truly beautiful experience. The audience was undoubtedly moved. The presence of God was truly felt. Next were the boys who caught the attention of the crowd with a very lively, jumpy and fast number called “Jesus, you’re my Savior”

The Greatest Encounter was the next on the list. A college-life based skit portraying a student who lost his way, got into bad habits and finally got saved the saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior. He made a live alter call which really touched the audience. The evening was brought to an end with a Christmas song.

Mi Cristo 08’ was a refreshing change. New and brilliant ideas, active participation & ready availability were the qualities we as a church, realized that our Lord was looking for rather than inborn talents or “stage presence”, in order to please Him.

All the feedback forms boosted our confidence because the response was simply marvelous. An approximate head count of 500 was present and as we do a follow up with many of those who attended, we believe to see them soon in church.

But there is something close to impossible and that had to explain this year’s magical experience, the ICPF of Manipal was made able to perform, in just a page!!
